I've been cooking since I was 15, I've been painting since I was 18 - although I took a break from it for at least 20 years. In real life I work in IT. These are my two passions:
I'm originally Italian and moved to Ireland back in 1995 (!). I don't eat in Italian restaurants usually as I prefer to cook following my Tuscany traditions and the dishes my granny Nonna Lu and my father taught me.
Ireland has some great food also, and I've been learning how to cook the most traditional food, tapping into the memory of my lifelong boyfriend and then talking to elderly ladies who remember recipies from the old times.
I only paint in oils, and I make attempts at three techniques and styles: 1) the grand masters technique -in layers, starting with a monochrome foundation; 2) alla prima technique - basically wet on wet, although I usually cheat with a final layer for highlights; 3) both techniques combined in some way to try some abstract paintings.
I love painting landscapes, flowers, still life, abstracts and the odd one out that somebody may have asked me to paint for them. I'm totally hopeless at portraits, so I am never going there.
