This one was done very much "alla prima", again in 2018, starting with a totally untreated background on cardboard. Again it was just a rough study, but my dad liked it, so I varnished it and this is the first ever painting I got framed.
Colours:
Lamp Black
Paynes Grey
Flake White
Permanent Green Light
Emerald Green
Sap Green
Permanent Rose
Cadmium Yellow (pale hue)
Burnt Umber
Raw Sienna
Medium "alla prima":
2 parts Turpentine
4 parts Liquin Original
2 parts Damar Varnish
2 parts Linseed Oil
I started with a really rough sketch, and then drew directly with the brushes:
In theory "alla prima" means to complete a painting in one single sitting. I totally cheat (who cares?) so the day after (the alla prima medium allowed me to paint on it that soon!) I simply added some glazing and highlights:
Then waited a couple of months of course, and proceeded to varnish it.
